Privacy Policy

The short version
VoiceVault has no servers, no accounts of its own, no ads and no analytics. Your recordings and transcripts stay on your phone. If you connect Google Drive, copies go to your Drive, and nowhere else.
Who we are
VoiceVault is published by Kan Canada Trading Corp., a Canadian company based in British Columbia. Contact: asoni@kancanada.com.
What stays on your phone
- Audio recordings you make, saved in Recordings/VoiceVault (or a folder you choose).
- Transcripts of those recordings, saved in Documents/VoiceVault (or a folder you choose).
- Settings, such as your language and save folder.
We never receive any of this. Uninstalling the app removes its settings; your saved files stay until you delete them.
How transcription works
VoiceVault turns speech into text using the speech recognition service built into your phone (Speech Services by Google). By default it runs on-device: audio is processed on your phone and is not sent over the internet.
Settings include an optional, off-by-default switch, “Fall back to Google online”. If you turn it on and on-device recognition fails, audio is sent to Google’s online speech service while it’s in use, under Google’s Privacy Policy.
On-device AI (optional)
Titles, summaries, to-dos, answers to your questions, speaker labels and the optional high-accuracy transcription are produced by AI models that run on your phone. Your recordings and transcripts are never sent to us or to any AI service.
- The models are not part of the app download. When you choose to download one, VoiceVault fetches the model file once, directly from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), where the open models are published. The request contains only the file being downloaded, never your recordings, transcripts or any personal data. Hugging Face receives the technical details any download involves, such as your IP address, under its privacy policy.
- The models used include Google’s Gemma 4 E2B (Apache License 2.0) and open speech and speaker models. After the download, everything runs offline.
- You can remove a downloaded model at any time in Settings.
Calendar (optional)
If you allow calendar access, VoiceVault reads the title and time of the event happening when you record, to name the recording and to remind you to record a meeting that is about to start. Calendar data is read on your phone only; it is never uploaded, stored by us or shared. You can turn this off in Settings or in your phone’s app permissions.
Google Drive (optional)
If you choose Connect Google Drive, VoiceVault asks Google for the
drive.file permission. This lets the app create and update only the files
it makes itself, in a “VoiceVault” folder in your Drive. It cannot see, read or change
anything else in your Drive.
- What is uploaded: each recording’s transcript, and the audio if you leave “Upload audio too” on.
- Where it goes: directly from your phone to your own Google Drive. It never passes through our servers.
- What we see: nothing. We have no access to your Drive or your Google account.
- You can disconnect any time in Settings, or revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
VoiceVault’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
What VoiceVault does NOT collect
- No analytics, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising IDs, device IDs or location.
- No contacts, photos or other files.
- No recordings or transcripts are used to train AI models, by us or anyone else.
Permissions VoiceVault asks for
- Microphone: to record, only while you are recording.
- Notifications: to show that recording is in progress, with a Stop button.
- Internet: used only to upload to your Google Drive, if you connect it, and to download the optional on-device AI models.
- Calendar (optional): to name recordings after the meeting and remind you to record.
Payments
VoiceVault is free for 30 days, then offers a one-time “VoiceVault Lifetime” purchase through Google Play. Google processes the payment; we never see your card or billing details. The app only checks with Google Play whether you own the unlock.
Children
VoiceVault is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete. Your recordings are yours: delete them on your phone or in your Drive at any time. Questions: asoni@kancanada.com.
